Context before starting
You need to know how many competitors you want to identify and compare
The best use case if to create one source by competitors, to make it easier to compare in reports
Exemple:
I want to compare my business with 3 different competitors (brand X, Y, Z). Brand X and Y both have 5 Google pages (stores, agencies, etc), and Z only has one.
At the end of the process, you need to have 3 sources, one for each competitors. And you will have to import the related pages to the right source.
- Competitor X -> 1 source with 5 different imports/pages attached
- Competitor Y -> 1 source with 5 different imports/pages attached
- Competitor Z -> 1 source with 1 import/page attached
Getting started with importing a new Google (competiror) page
Step 1 - Click on “Create a New Import.”
Step 2 -
Import name: Enter the name of the Google page or the source you are importing.
Ex : Competitor X - Page name (it could be the name of the store, the agency, etc)
Google Maps URLs: Add the URL of the Google Reviews page you want to import.
How to find it? Open the page in Google Maps. Once you see the red location pin on the map, you’re on the correct page. You can then copy and paste the URL from your browser’s address bar.
Step 3 - This will depend on whether it’s your first time importing a competitor’s Google page (as explained in the context section at the beginning of this article).
There are three possible scenarios:
If it's a new use case, and you don't have any Google competitors import yet, you can select "Automatically create a source"
If some Google competitor pages are already imported in the platform,
- And you already have a source for this competitor, you can select the source in "Feedback destination"
- And you don't have a source for this competitor, you can select "Automatically create a source"
If you selected "Automatically create a source", you need to precise if the source will be available for all teams of only for yours.
By default, all sources will be available in the main team so the main team will always be selected. The choice here is about making it available for your subteam or all subteams.
Step 4 - This step is the final confirmation, you only need to click on "Next step" to start the importation.
What attributes will be added to your feedback ?
Attribut | Description |
Name of the google place name
Country code of the place name
City of the Google place
Address of google place
Id of the Google review (feedback)
Id of the Google place
URL of the Google review (feedback)
How to make sure the import is working ?
Now that you completed the import, we recommend waiting around 15 min to make sure the import has time to be activated.
Once it's done, you should be able to find your import line in the Workspace sources, and in the Imports tab. If the import is working, the tag Successful will be displayed with the number of feedback.
This import is directly linked to the source:
As a reminder and in this context, 1 source = 1 competitor
And 1 source can = 1 or X imports
We can have multiple imports linked to 1 source
What attributes will be attached to the Google competitors feedback ?
Attribut | Description |
Name of the google place name
Country code of the place name
City of the Google place
Address of google place
Id of the Google review (feedback)
Id of the Google place
URL of the Google review (feedback)
When comparing competitors’ average ratings, the Source should be used as the primary comparison level.
